We believe it is vital to offer our boys opportunities to go on a variety of trips during their time at Rokeby.
Trips enable children to develop cooperative and social skills and learn to develop personal responsibility and independence.
All our trips are designed to assist the curriculum, and are sometimes subject-specific field trips, such as Geography and Science. The expectation is that all boys will go on at least two outings a year, which may include a visit to a theatre, art gallery or local place of religious worship. Recently, we have taken the younger boys to Winchester Science Centre, the London Eye, Kew Gardens, and London Zoo. Every year towards the end of the Autumn Term Years 3 to Year 7 watch a pantomime at a local theatre, and Year 8 visit The London Dungeon as a Christmas treat.
Residential trips are arranged for whole year groups, starting at Year 4 and ending at the end of Year 8. There is a dedicated residential trips week in the Summer Term. The cost for many of these is included in the fees. We often arrange trips abroad; recent destinations include the Loire Valley, Sorrento, Provence, the Battlefields of Belgium and northern France, and Iceland. Sports trips include a cricket tour to the sub-continent, a pre-season football tour to Spain (during the summer holiday), and the IAPS Skiing Championships in Italy.
