The School Council sits at the heart of Rokeby. It sees our boys working together for the good of each other and of the school, making tangible changes in the process.
Every year the Council is elected by staff, taking the boys’ views into consideration. The Council consists of ten Year 8 boys and is made up of:
• Head Boy and Deputy Head Boy
• The four Prefects
• The four House Captains
The School Council works with the class representatives from each Form and the Pre-Prep. This wider council meets with the form representatives regularly to put forward ideas and discuss areas for improvement in the school, which are discussed in the boys’ forms and classes.
The main Council meets with either the Headmaster, the Deputy Head or the Head of Year 8 every two weeks to take these ideas forward. We have made many changes as a result of involving the boys more in their school and see benefits at all age groups of the boys working together for the common good. Some recent examples are changes to school lunches, refurbishment of some facilities and new awards for the boys to celebrate their achievements.
