Elliot Newton, Biodiversity Officer at Kingston Council, delivered an assembly to boys in Years 3-8 this week. He was introduced by Nicholas R (4W), who has taken part in many conservation activities and knows Elliot.
The boys were gripped as they heard about our local wildlife including the transparent feathers of kingfishers, the inability of stag beetles to eat, the speed (240mph) of peregrine falcons and the feet of a London bat which scoops up water as it flies. In the face of the climate emergency, it was a positive message of how we can all improve biodiversity, and help the planet, by protecting local species.
Do look out for the ‘WildWays’ around Kingston and ‘BioBeds’.
