Religious Studies

We teach our boys to understand the foundational values of humanity.

Our approach encourages boys to learn about the values of humanity as demonstrated in its diverse cultures.

Study of the major religions forms the basis of the syllabus in Years 3-6. In the top years the emphasis shifts to ethics where we look at the history of civil rights and slavery in Year 7. In Year 8, we then explore and debate ethical issues such as just war, capital punishment, animal testing and free speech. Also, in Year 8, boys undertake an extended project on the Scandinavian prison system.

We teach our boys to respect other cultures and encourage them to discuss how beliefs and values can be applied to contemporary issues in modern society. We develop cross-curricular links and often arrange trips to places of worship.
