On Thursday 24^th March the boys in Year 3 took part in their House Swimming Gala, held at Parkside School. The boys have been participating in a swimming unit at Putney Leisure Centre this term and have worked incredibly hard to improve their confidence and competence in the water.

The boys selected their two strongest strokes from the three traditional techniques of breaststroke, backstroke and front crawl. They competed in Heats against their counterparts from their respective Houses in each of the three disciplines. The fastest swimmer in each stroke from each House progressed through to take part in the Finals. There were some excellent individual performances and the results from these finals can be seen below. More impressively, the boys demonstrated bravery when competing and camaraderie for their teammates.

For a lot of the boys, swimming has been a difficult activity to access over the last few years due to Covid-19, but the determination and perseverance from all involved was evident. The final event of the day was the relay, with the next four fastest swimmers from the front crawl heats representing their House. The boys cheered on their Houses and the excitement and anticipation was palpable. The relay was tightly contested, with Moody coming out as eventual winners.
