Rokeby Educational Trust Limited is a registered charity and a company limited by guarantee. The Trustees of the charity and directors of the company are known as Governors. Many Governors are parents or ex-parents of boys at the school. The Governors have responsibility for setting and monitoring the overall strategic direction of the company, approving decisions reserved to Governors and appointing key members of staff.
The day-to-day management of Rokeby Educational Trust Limited lies with the Head who has overall responsibility for the school, and the Bursar who takes particular responsibility for the non-academic aspects.
Mr Charles Carter – (Chair of Governors) was appointed a Governor and Vice Chairman in 2003 and Chairman in 2006. He is a management consultant. He was educated at Malvern College, and went on to read Engineering at Cambridge. He and his wife, Jenny, live in Kingston and have a daughter and two sons who both attended Rokeby, one going on to St Paul’s School and the other to King’s College School, Wimbledon; both have now graduated from university.
Mrs Karen Abbott – (Staffing Committee) was appointed to the Board in December 2004. She is a solicitor and was a partner at the global law firm Mayer Brown. She was educated at St Paul's Girls' School before reading law at Bristol University. Her two sons went to Rokeby, the oldest is now at St Andrew's reading Chemistry and the youngest is at St Paul's School. Karen’s daughter is also at University, reading Mechanical Engineering.
Mr Bruce Allen – (Capital Assets Committee) joined the Governors in September 2012. He was educated at Clifton College in Bristol and qualified in 1991 as a Chartered Architect following Edinburgh University. He and his wife Dina live in Kingston and have two sons, one still at Rokeby and the other at Millfield (having been at Rokeby).
Mrs Annabel Evans-Tovey – (Safeguarding Governor) was appointed a Governor in September 2012. She has been a barrister for more than 20 years practicing in Family Law, specialising in child care matters. She was educated at Benenden School, read Slavonic Studies at Nottingham University and Law at the University of Westminster. She is married and had a son at Rokeby (now at Harrow) and two daughters at Wimbledon High School.
Dr Andrew Mayfield – (Educational Governor) joined the board of Governors in September 2012. He is the Director of Admissions at St Paul’s School. After reading mathematics at Manchester and Oxford Universities he joined St Paul’s and has since taken on a variety of roles within the school. Andrew and his wife Lucy live in Sheen with their four children. The two eldest boys attend St Paul’s School, the youngest is in the first year and their daughter is at Lady Margaret’s School. Andrew is a keen musician and sportsman.
Mr David Viles – (Treasurer) joined the Governors in May 2010. He was General Auditor at BP having previously been a partner at Arthur Andersen and at Deloitte & Touche. He studied Mathematics at Imperial College, London and Emmanuel College, Cambridge. He has two sons, both at St. Paul’s (having been at Rokeby), and a daughter at Holy Cross.
Mr Rob Webster – (Capital Assets Committee Chairman and Member of Finance Committee) joined the Governors in May 2010. He is Group Commercial Director at Sky Television in London. He was educated at Gresham’s’ School in Norfolk and thereafter read Law at Southampton University. Rob worked as a solicitor specialising in company law for several years before taking on the commercial role he now fills. He and his wife Sharon live in Kingston. He has 2 sons who went from Rokeby to Epsom College, and his youngest son is currently still at Rokeby.
Mrs. Anna Priest – (Marketing Governor) joined the Governors in June 2015. She is Vice President of Global Brands for A+E Networks, an international media company. She has a degree in Communication Studies from Leeds University and an MA in Marketing. Before joining A+E Networks, Anna held senior marketing positions at the BBC and Comic Relief. Anna is married to Matt and has a son at Rokeby and a daughter at Holy Cross.
